Taijiquan (t'ai chi ch'uan) is a slow-moving martial art practiced for self-defense and for defense against illness and aging. A new study recently reported that its practice can lessen the risk of falls in the elderly.
Qigong (chi kung) is similar to Taijiquan, but is (most often) non-martial. Its main emphases are health and energy cultivation. Some advanced practitioners are able to use their mastery of qi to heal themselves and others.
